Don't know about you—but I was brought up in a negative family.
We were not taught to look at the positive side of things.
We focused on judgment, frustrations and negativity.
Breaking that habit has been difficult for me.
But I've found some great tools to move away from judgment, negativity and frustration.

Some solutions to dissolve frustrations:

A great tool is to focus on something good in the situation.  Yes.  That can be difficult—but you can do it.cabrera_along_rectortown_road_24x36_ol_studio
The other day when I was stuck in traffic because of construction , I was able to look around at the beautiful scenery.
Rather than focusing on the traffic delay, I saw beauty, instead.

Remember—you get to choose how you feel—good or bad.
Care about yourself enough to choose good things.

►  Is the subject of your frustration really that important?
Like life or death?  Probably not.  So get things into perspective.

►  Write down 5 things that you're grateful for.  Focus on positive things.
Picture your frustations flying away.
You deserve wonderful things.  You deserve to be peaceful and relaxed.

►  Take your dog for a walk and clear your head.  Don't have a dog? Borrow one…or go for a brisk walk…or go to the gym.
The key is to get your mind off the frustration and move on.  Get physical!walking dog

►   Call or see a supportive friend.  Sometimes we just need to talk with someone about our frustrations.
Maybe your friend can come up with a way to deal with your frustration.
In any event, it's great to express our feelings, come up with solutions and let them go.

►   When I'm experiencing frustration, I go to my computer, put on my headset and listen to an appropriate Meditation.

  1. You are right. It all depends how you look at things in life. Either positively or negatively.

I often become frustrated because I see the negatives first. I have been working hard at looking at the positives in every situation I encounter. But this is often easier said than done.

I have started working out again because I noticed my mood is much more positive when I exercise 3-5 times a week!

    1. Hi Simone! Thanks for your thoughts. And, Yes—exercise really helps to create a more positive mood. If it’s not convenient to exercise, please try Meditation. I will continue to post Free Meditations on my blog. I usually stretch while I’m Meditating. Give it a shot. You might find it very valuable.

  2. Hi Diane,

I used to be very frustrated with life for no apparent reasons and this happened quite often when I was in college. Looking back, I should have make good use of that time doing something more productive like picking up a new skill (one that is not taught in schoo) so that I have got a back up in case my career didn’t work out.

True enough, I am now in the verge of a career change and ironically, finding it frustrating that the transition is taking such a Long time.

But I have learned from experience that frustration will not get you anywhere. It’s more important to get things done Everyday and just move on to the next. The continuity of that will eventually produce good results.

    1. Hi Cathy: Thanks for your candid remarks. I’m sure we all would have done things differently if we had the tools we now have. You are so right about getting things done everyday and moving forward. Sometimes, I allow myself to get stuck. But then, I listen to some guided Meditations and that helps me to go forward. Good luck to you!

  3. I sure am frustrated with my life! The main problem is attending a full-time stressful job, being surrounded by “negative” colleagues, and also the added pressures of going out with friends constantly.

Sometimes we just need to remove ourselves from certain situations so we can relax and remove the frustrations. Personally, I love to sit in Coffee shops during some of my free time and do things at my own pace while watching the world go past the window.

This article was so helpful to me, and I loved watching the video too!

    Thank You!
    Neil

  4. Hi,

I’ve experienced a lot of frustration in my life and maybe more will come. I totally agree with you that it is how we look at something that will determine our emotion state at that moment. Everything is from our mind, if we can control it, then we will have no problem to overcome any obstacles in our lives.

All the tips you have given here are practical solutions that we can do to immediately change the state of our mind so that the doors of opportunity can be seen for us to take the next step to overcome our frustration.

    1. Hello Michael: Thanks for your comments. Glad to see that my words were just practical solutions to change our state of mind. Best of luck!
